August 31, 2025

This is a batch of winter time photos of Lake Erie in all its iced over glory. I used a disposable film camera to take the pics.

May 3, 2025

The local college has been building a new running track so there's been some new construction equipment to photograph.

March 6, 2025

These new photographs are another round of disposable film camera pictures from the fall and winter.

January 4, 2025

The latest batch of photos are more shots with disposable film cameras from the warmer months. The 400 ISO film doesn't handle bright sunlight great, but I dig how it washes out the colors a bit. I have no idea why the focus ends up being soft, other than it is a cheap camera. The first couple cameras were fine. The last few have been blurry. I make it a point now to hold still and carefully frame the picture. It doesn't seem to help with the focus issues.

November 9, 2024

The band Anamanaguchi played a show at BJ's in Fredonia on September 24, 2024. It was a really fun night. I finally bought a new external flash for my camera so it was good to be taking some proper band photos again. I was maybe a tad rusty, but it all turned out fine.

September 1, 2024

The newest photos are another round of disposable film camera pictures. They are all from around where I work. It's handy to have a camera where you take the photos and don't see the immediate results. I think I'm still getting the hang of the cheap cameras, which are not great tools.

July 7, 2024

I've been tinkering around with disposable film cameras for photos lately. The new pictures are some of the ones I've taken over the last few months. The quality is kind of mixed because the cameras only come with 400 ISO film, which means lots of grain on sunny days. You can still get some interesting photos at times.

May 4, 2024

Foliage & early music.

This set of photos is of Bromp Treb from an appearance at the now defunct Dreamland in Buffalo, New York. The gig was on March 24, 2014. Bromp Treb is the solo noise / tape collage / electroacoustic / performance art effort of Neil Cloaca Young, of Fat Worm of Error fame.

I haven't been doing much photography lately so I haven't felt motivated to update the site. I have been taking some pics with disposable film cameras and I'll see how that goes.

January 6, 2024

I took some pictures of trees in the yard during the summer for the current batch of photos. Happy New Year.

July 3, 2023

The new photos are of Wolf Eyes from a show at the Mohawk Place in Buffalo, New York on May 28, 2023. It was my first trip to Buffalo in three years and it was really good to see them again. They played songs mostly from their new album.

May 7, 2023

This batch of photos are of No Age again. They played the Knight Club at Alfred University en route to NYC for a gig to coincide with the release of Nouns. The show was on Friday, May 2, 2008. High Places were the opener and created the most amazing wall of sound. It was another ripper and the college kids were stoked. I miss stuff like this.

March 4, 2023

The new photos are of the Liars. They played with No Age fifteen years ago at the Tralf in Buffalo, New York.

January 7, 2023

The current crop of pictures is of No Age from a gig with the Liars at the Tralf Music Hall in Buffalo, New York on February 7, 2008. They played songs mostly from Weirdo Rippers and probably a couple from the yet to be released Nouns. This was quite a show and it was good that the weather worked for a February trip to the Nickel City.

Happy neu yr.

November 5, 2022

Decades, man. They are flying by.

This set of photos is of Dick Neff (Lance Simmons) at the Vault in Buffalo, New York on November 5, 2012. This was a cold Monday night show with Wretched Worst, a noisy post-hardcore type band featuring a former member of Hair Police. By contrast, today is an unseasonably warm Saturday.

September 5, 2022

Go grey.

These photos are of U.S. Girls at Soundlab in Buffalo, New York on March 8, 2009.

July 3, 2022

The new set of photos are of Lightning Bolt from a show at Soundlab in Buffalo, New York from April 2011. This was a ripper of a gig. Everybody knows how awesome these guys are live.

June 1, 2022

I have two etchings in the Allegheny College Alumni Art Exhibition at Hatch Hollow Gallery. The show runs from June 1st to July 2nd, 2022 with an opening from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, June 3rd. The gallery is located at 245 Chestnut Street in Meadville, Pennsylvania. It as a companion event to the college's annual reunion weekend.

May 3, 2022

This round of photos are of Dianogah at Soundlab in Buffalo from all the way back in June of 2008. Locals Red Tag Rummage Sale and The Stay Lows were the openers.

March 6, 2022

The current set of photos are of a Yellow Swans show at Soundlab in Buffalo, New York from October of 2007. Everything feels like such a long time ago now that I sometimes wonder if this stuff actually happened.

Going places | Being there.

January 8, 2022

The newest photos are some snapshots of the past summer.

November 6, 2021

The new set of photos are of AIDS Wolf and Unicorn Hard-On playing a basement in Binghamton, New York a decade ago. It was a straight up ripper of a house show.

September 4, 2021

This batch of photos are assorted pictures of birds I have taken in the backyard from over the years.

July 3, 2021

The newest set of photos are of random plants on the college campus.

May 1, 2021

The current batch of photos are the highlights of the 2020 construction season. It was a little lean with most of the building around here being done and that whole plague thing going on.

March 6, 2021

This collection of photos is another bunch of very unspectacular landscapes. I find something fascinating about totally mundane spaces that lack any sort of exciting features. It's almost the opposite of a postcard that promotes a tourist attraction.

January 1, 2021

Happy New Year.

This collection of photos is a bunch of very unspectacular landscapes.

November 1, 2020

This time around the photos are of AIDS Wolf from a show at BJ's in Fredonia, New York. The show took place on October 20, 2010. I got to see and hang out with my all time favorite band in my hometown so that was pretty darn awesome.

For the first time in website history, I'm using a vertical format for the pictures. I didn't take enough horizontals at the show.

September 5, 2020

These photos are of a house show at the Jungle Gym in Buffalo, New York from the end of July 2013. The bands are UVB-76, Some Pepper, Unguent, and Mincemeat Or Tenspeed. UVB-76 are local. The other three were on tour from Philadelphia and Rhode Island. I think at least one other person played, but I missed photos because they played in the living room and I happened to be downstairs. Or something like that. This was one of those fun and mellow summertime shows. I remember buying tapes and a CD in the kitchen from Lance (Unguent) and Davey (MMOTS). The house had a super cute kitty cat, too.

Nostalgia for noise shows of past summers.

July 1, 2020

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Independence Day!

The new set of photos are of plants. I did the exact same photo theme two years ago. I found a different batch of plants this time around.

May 1, 2020

The new photos are of Spiteful Womb and Striations from a house show at the end of February in Buffalo. This was a super fun gig with lots of friendly faces hanging out in a living room. It's the last show I took pictures at before everything hit the fan. Here's hoping we can get back to seeing live music again soon.

Stay safe out there everybody.

March 1, 2020

This round of photos are of Pedestrian Deposit from a stop in Buffalo at Sugar City last spring. The duo of Jonathan Borges and Shannon Kennedy are legends on the noise circuit. It was great that they paid the Nickel City a visit again.

January 1, 2020

Happy New Year!

The Lovely Eggs played a surprise show under the fancy lights at BJ's in Fredonia one night last September. They happened to be in town to put the finishing touches on a new album and graced the stage with their presence.

November 5, 2019

This set of photographs is of John Wiese at Sugar City in Buffalo, New York from a gig this past September. I'd seen John play bass in Sissy Spacek twice before, but I'd never seen him do a solo set. He was supposed to have a show in Buffalo last January, except it was cancelled by a blizzard. There was no snow so I got to see one of the masters of noise jam out.

September 6, 2019

The new batch of photos are of the Buffalo band Space Cubs. They played at Lil Magill's in Fredonia in July.

July 7, 2019

The annual change from winter to construction season has finally occured.

May 4, 2019

The new photos are of electro pop duo Home Body from a recent tour stop in Jamestown, New York at the Beer Snob.

March 1, 2019

This set of photos is of AIDS Wolf from a show in March of 2009 at Soundlab in Buffalo, NY. They were on tour with U.S. Girls. The gig was the second time I got to see my all time favorite band. It was a great night.

January 5, 2019

Happy New Year!

The pictures this time out are of The Body from a show in May of 2015 at Sugar City in Buffalo, NY.

November 5, 2018

The new series of photos are of Aaron Dilloway from a recent show in Buffalo, NY at the Cass Projects gallery. Aaron played some eight track tapes and made some noises. It was awesome.

September 3, 2018

Happy Labor Day!

The construction season was a tad lean this time around as the local college finished up with most of their big projects last year. I still managed a few good pictures of big machines.

July 1, 2018

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Independence Day!

I took some pictures of plants.

May 5, 2018

This set of photos are of AIDS Wolf from a show at Soundlab in Buffalo, NY. The show happened in March of 2008. I've been going through my archives and digging up old stuff since I haven't been taking many photos these days. I think the late Craig Reynolds, the owner of Soundlab, is in the background of the third photo. AIDS Wolf is my favorite band ever and this was the first time I saw them. Soundlab was my favorite venue in Buffalo, but sadly it closed in 2013.

March 6, 2018

The new round of photos are of J. Hamilton Isaacs and Kevin Greenspon from a gig on a rooftop in Buffalo, NY from June of 2017.

January 2, 2018

Happy New Year!

It is winter and cold. The new photos are from the summer when it was warm.

November 4, 2017

This set of photos is of construction equipment from over the summer. It was a little lean this year because the college had finished up most of the big projects.

September 4, 2017

Happy Labor Day!

The new batch of photos are of fish at the county fair.

The conservation groups have their building on the fairgrounds and they set up a few aquariums with fish native to area bodies of water. I usually end up freelancing one event for the local newspaper during the week the fair is in town. After getting my photos of what is often a loud and dusty motor sport demonstration at the grandstand, I wander around the fair since I'm in there on a free pass with a good parking spot. I always stop to check out the fish and snap at least one picture. This year I took a few more. The aquariums look slightly surreal and the fish seem like they are depressed, probably from a lack of oxygen in the water and being confined to a small space. There's this sort of other worldly vibe to the whole thing.

July 3, 2017

The new photos are of Timeghost from a recent show in Buffalo, NY at Dreamland. The set was intense.

May 4, 2017

This round of photos are of UVB-76, Buffalo's favorite electronic duo, from a show in February at Sugar City.

March 6, 2017

The new set of photos are of Pharmakon from a noise fest in Buffalo, NY during the summer of 2014.

January 3, 2017

Happy New Year!

This round of photos is of Cloning. The band is Dana Ma and he specializes in harsh synth and tape jams.

October 31, 2016

Happy Halloween!

The new set of photos are of Machine Listener and Matt Ryals from when they stopped by Sugar City in Buffalo, NY this past July. It was a whole lot of synth goodness.

September 2, 2016

When it's not winter, it's construction season. And I am fine with that. The new photos are of assorted pieces of heavy machinery that are used for building stuff.

Enjoy the Labor Day weekend.

July 1, 2016

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Independence Day!

The batch of photos are of Horse Lords. The Baltimore based no wave Krautrockers played Sugar City in Buffalo, NY in May of 2016. They are really darn good.

May 5, 2016

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

The pictures this time around are of UVB-76 from a show in October at Sugar City in Buffalo, NY. America on the line.

February 29, 2016

Happy Leap Year!

This round of photos are of Sissy Spacek. The band played at Sugar City in Buffalo, NY this past July. They were touring with Wolf Eyes. You can see John Olson lurking in the background of one of the pictures.

I'm also tinkering with the archive page to make it a little more practical.

January 4, 2016

Happy New Year!

The new photos are of Container from a show in September at the Mohawk Place in Buffalo, NY.

September 14, 2015

The new pictures are of more construction equipment. For as many photos as I've taken of the machines, they are pretty much all shot at the same couple of parking lots on the campus of a local college.

July 1, 2015

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Independence Day!

The photos are of AIDS Wolf, my favorite band ever. These were taken at a few different places between 2009 and 2011.

May 4, 2015

The new pictures are of Blessed Sacrifist from a show at Ocean Garden Oriental Foods in Buffalo, NY this past December. The band is Jay Linski from Milwaukee playing a variety of depressive electronics.

March 2, 2015

Is it spring yet?

The new photos are of more construction machinery from last summer.

December 31, 2014

Happy New Year!

I like taking photos of construction equipment on sunny days.

October 31, 2014

Happy Halloween!

This time around the photos are of Corporate Park. They played the Summer Scum III Noise Fest in Buffalo in July. Their set was strobe light craziness. They've got a couple of tapes that are totally worth tracking down.

September 5, 2014

Whoops. Almost forgot about this thing.

The new set of photos are of Plagues and were taken at the Summer Scum III Noise Fest in Buffalo this last July. The whole two day affair was a blast. The organizers did a great job of putting everything together.

July 1, 2014

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Independence Day on Friday!

This batch of photos are of Timgehost. The band is Adam Morosky on a variety of synths, drum machines, samplers, and a crazy mouthpiece/microphone thing. There's also a fancy light show to create quite an intense live visual presence. He played a multipurpose community office space in Ithaca, New York as one stop on a tour in May around the northeastern and midwestern states.

The collage I had entered in the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center's Made In NY 2014 exhibit sold. A little disappointed to see it go, but I'm happy somebody is getting some enjoyment out of the piece.

May 5, 2014

The new photographs are of the band Nomads. They are from Cleveland and play instrumental post-rock. They played BJ's in Fredonia, NY recently.

March 25, 2014

I've got a collage in the Made In NY 2014 exhibit at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, New York. The show opens on Saturday and runs until May 25.

Made in New York is an annual exhibit featuring artists 18 and older who reside in New York. This year's exhibit was juried by Michael Sickler, Retired Professor of Art of Syracuse University, and Kim Waale, Professor of Art & Director of the Studio Art Program at Cazenovia College.

March 3, 2014

It's March already. That was a fast 59 days.

The photos this time are of Nathan Pruitt who goes by the name of N Colyar P. He played a set of minimal guitar drones at some place in Buffalo at the end of October. Nathan barely touched his guitar. He manipulated two delay pedals and a distortion pedal to make his sounds.

I've got a collage in an exhibit coming up shortly. I'll post details soon.

January 6, 2014

Happy New Year.

The new photo set is of Tiger Hatchery. They are very talented and visited Buffalo to play some free jazz in November. It's a good thing they stopped by when they did because the weather switched to winter about a week after the show and it has been snowing ever since.

November 11, 2013

This time out the photos are of Kevin Greenspon from when he stopped in Buffalo in September to play some blissed out drones.

Thanks, veterans.

September 3, 2013

The new set of photos are of Some Pepper from a recent show in a dank basement in Buffalo, NY. The band is David Byrne of Philadelphia. He makes some rad noises.

July 1, 2013

Happy Canada Day.

Happy Independence Day, too.

It was really foggy the other night on my street.

May 6, 2013

Been a while.

The new photos are of Spelling Bee from when they played somebody's living room this past March in Rochester, New York. The band is from St. Louis. Mabel Suen plays the guitar and sax. Joseph Hess handles the drums and sampler. They both sing. Check 'em out if they ever swing by your town. They are nice and loud.

January 1, 2013

Happy New Year.

New year, new photos.

The band Cave are featured this time around from when they played the Vault in Buffalo in November. These dudes are so good and I don't think they tour often so it was a treat to see them. Krautrock.

September 3, 2012

Happy Labor Day.

The photos this time around are of Blues Control. The band played Soundlab in Buffalo a few days ago. Blues Control is the duo of Russ Waterhouse on guitar, synths and tapes and Lea Cho on keyboards and synths. They do some nice work and you should check them out if they swing by your town.

I might have some collages in a local art show that opens this weekend. I'll add the details once I find out.

July 4, 2012

Happy Independence Day. Be careful with those fireworks.

The photographs are pictures of my street and driveway at night.

May 5, 2012

Happy Cinco de Mayo.

The photos are of trees.

March 4, 2012

The photos this time out are of High Places when they stopped at Soundlab in Buffalo back in 2008.

January 7, 2012

Welcome to 2012.

The new photos are of the Yellow Swans from when they played at Soundlab in Buffalo on a tour in the fall of 2007. The band was Pete Swanson on vocals and electronics and Gabriel Mindel Saloman on guitar and electronics. They broke up in 2008 after gracing us with a bunch of great swirling ambient psychedelic noise jams.

December 5, 2011

I've got a 'zine of drawings in a group art show in Brooklyn at the Botanic Gallery. It opens on Friday and runs until December 26th. Details are to the right.

November 4, 2011

The new batch of pictures are of Slutever. They are two ladies from Philadelphia who play some skuzzy punk rock tunes. They were at Sugar City in Buffalo this past August and it was a very enjoyable show.

September 5, 2011

Happy Labor Day.

It's time for a new set of photos. These are more of me messing around with my camera at night using the aperture mode and a low ISO. At least one of the photos had some lighting help from an incoming thunderstorm.

July 2, 2011

Happy Canada Day.
(A day late.)

Happy Independence Day.
(A little early.)

I put up some new photos. I've been messing around with my camera and taking pictures at night. I've been setting the ISO as low as it will go, using aperture mode and letting the camera do its thing.

June 8, 2011

I finally added an archive of all the photos that have been on here the last couple of years. The link is at the bottom of the page.

May 7, 2011

It's been two months since the last update so that means a photo change is in order. This time around it is Plates. They play gnarly punk rock and are from Buffalo. The band was at BJ's in Fredonia at the end of April for BJ's Fest.

March 7, 2011

The new photographs are of Dirt Eyes. They are from Buffalo and played a basement in Fredonia this past Friday. They make some good rumbling noise.

January 8, 2011

Happy New Year.

(A week late.)

The new photos are of Snowing from when they played Fredonia in August 2010. It was the last show at LGHQ, a fine house that saw many a touring and local band rock the living room. Also one of the photos in this set is of the singer/guitarist from Glocca Morra. He helped out. Enjoy.

November 1, 2010

The new batch of photos are of Women playing at Mojo's in Jamestown, New York. They are from Calagry. The show took place this past October.

I made the squares on the front page bigger.

I really should add a photo archive.

September 6, 2010

Happy Labor Day. Don't work too hard.

This time around the photos are of Poverty Hymns playing at Soundlab in Buffalo, New York. The show happened in August 2010.

I'll have four etchings in the Adams Art Gallery Member Show that opens this Friday. Details are to the right.

July 4, 2010

Happy Independence Day.

The new set of photos are the band Werewolves. They are from Athens, Georgia and played a house show in Fredonia this past March.

May 25, 2010

Y'all still get to look at Crappy Dracula photos until July. I've taken plenty of photos in the last two months, but I never picked out any for an update. I finally got rid of the rollover GIF on the front page and now you click on the word INFO to get to this page. It's much better. I'm thinking about adding more photos to the front page or maybe some sort of archive. We shall see if that happens.

March 5, 2010

This new set of photos are of Crappy Dracula, Milwaukee's finest nautical rockers, from when they played the Vets Club in Dunkirk, New York last September. You really need to pick up a copy of their album called Almost. The cover art is amazing. And the music ain't bad either.

I've got two etchings in a show, too.

January 3, 2010

Happy New Year.

The new photos are of Parts & Labor from October 2007. They played at Soundlab in Buffalo, New York.

December 23, 2009

Happy holidays.

I made some changes to this page and cleaned up a few things. I'm going to have new pictures up soon.

October 31, 2009

Happy Halloween.

You get to look at Wolf Eyes photos for the next two months. These are from an October 2007 stop at Soundlab in Buffalo, New York.

I'm going to make a few minor changes to the website in the next month or two. It will stay the same four photo format, but I'm going to change this page around and get rid of the rollover on the front page. I hate that thing.
